The least weasel is, in real life, only two thirds the size of the drawing on the jacket, and is one of the many animals belonging to the "fearless family". Martens, otters, minks, stoats, skunks, and wolverines are all distant and not-so-distant cousins, and their lives and habits are excitingly and vividly set down in this collection of short stories, with its detailed line drawings and concise text. Gardell Dano Christensen has come to know these animals through long study and firsthand acquaintance; he appreciates their sense of humor and playfulness, their fears and furies, their maxim of "kill or be killed".
