Phyllis Root

1949 -

Phyllis Root teaches writing for children at Vermont College and is the author of many fine children's books, including Grandmother Winter, which reviewers describe as "a terrific read-aloud" and "a warm, satisfying read."  A sailing trip to the Canadian Slate Islands of Lake Superior (where she was lucky enough to see caribou) inspired her to write this story.  She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with her family.
