It was a hot summer day. Ted and Nina stood in a daisy field, waving goodbye to Mother and Daddy as they drove off to be gone for the day. But Ted and Nina were gone for the day too, for they were spending it with Great-aunt Lissa.
Picking strawberries was fun and so was their tea party on a big flat stone with grape leaves for plates and water for tea. But Aunt Lissa's idea for setting up a lemonade stand was the best of all; especially when the ice-man and the man next door stopped to read their sign "ICE COLD LEMONADE", and became customers.
Marguerite de Angeli has filled this story of a little boy and girl playing and talking together in the summer sun and shade with the quiet charm of small adventures that come to children. The simple story and beguiling pictures have all the appeal of Ted and Nina Go the Grocery Store and Ted and Nina Have a Happy Rainy Day.
