The five verses here dance with energy as animals large and small stand in clusters, loudly expressing themselves to one another. Each animal's name is printed in color, providing a visual link to the large illustrations. Zemach's increasingly crowded watercolors reflect the text's lively rhythms; a sleepy farmyard fills up with a host of singing birds and beasts, all rendered with charm and individuality.
