Flat Tail is the story of a beaver during the second and most interesting year of his life. He and his family leave their old home after a forest fire and follow along rivers and streams until they find a good location for a new dam and a new beaver colony. The story takes Flat Tail and his friends through all the exciting days of hard work and home building until the young beaver leaves to make room for his new brothers and sisters, finds his mate and a site for his own home.
Mrs. Gall and Mr. Crew have written Flat Tail with the same accuracy of detail and charm of style that are so evident in their first two books, Wagtail and Ringtail.
