This is the third book about Little Bear. All his old friends are back—Owl, Cat, Duck and Hen—and a new friend has come—a little girl named Emily. Beginning readers who already know Little Bear will welcome him joyously, and youngsters who meet Little Bear and Emily now for the first time have a treat in store, for the story and the pictures are better than ever.
Little Bear met Emily in the woods one day, near where she and her parents were camping for the summer. Emily had Lucy with her, and she promptly introduced her doll to her new friend. The three of them got along wonderfully.
When the summer was over, Little Bear was sad to see Emily go home. And Emily was so upset that she nearly gave Lucy to Little Bear—but she gave him a fountain pen instead. And when she had gone, Little Bear sat down with it to write his first letter—to his very good friend Emily.
