Here is a new approach to the legend of King Arthur and the Round Table. The story takes place in Wales in the thirteenth century, during the most creative period of chivalry, and the author has chosen the present site of Carleon for Camelot.
Melor, the son of one of the kings who pay homage to Arthur, is chosen to be King Arthur's page and to train for his own future as a knight of the Round Table. Melor comes to Camelot after the days of the Holy Grail, to find that there are still many severe tests to be endured and dangers to be faced.
Service as a page is a form of apprenticeship to knighthood. In return for faithful and efficient performance of his duties, the page receives schooling from the king and his staff. Latin and other subjects are taught by the queen.
Melor, however, often finds his impulsiveness leads him into acts which in turn make it appear he has shirked his duty or violated his office. It is the same impulsiveness which sometimes brings out proof of his faithfulness, and his valor. The impetuous page finds he is alternately in and out of favor with King Arthur, until the exciting climax when, in spite of another misjudgment on his part, Melor's courage and loyalty are key factors in foiling a plot against King Arthur.
This is an exciting and authentic story by a distinguished author.
