Mexico is our nearest neighbor to the south. The life there is very different from ours and undoubtedly more picturesque, though perhaps not as easy. However, in this sunny country, the tempo of life need not be fast.
There is time for observance of old-time customs among the native Indians, time to sit in a lovely flower garden or enjoy the fiestas, or feast days, to their utmost. Yet Mexico has huge modern ranches, plantations of sugar cane and rice, and many important oil fields. The simple language in the text is especially directed to younger readers, and colorful pictures are found throughout the book.
