Somewhere in the suburbs is a garden with a white fence around it. A little boy lives in the house there, and through all the seasons of the year he likes to watch the birds that come and go.
In the summer swallows soar, mourning doves coo, and robins, warblers and blackbirds sing their songs.
Nuthatches, chickadees, juncos, and titmice eat from the feeder in the winter. And all year, the jays sing their loud songs.
His parents have their own favorites among the birds, and so does the little boy. With the aid of beautifully rendered, accurate paintings, young readers are sure to spot some familiar birds, learn about some new ones, and come up with some favorites of their own.
