Springtime in Jeanne-Marie's village, and Jeanne-Marie has two pets—a white duck named Madelon and the white sheep, Patapon.
Jeanne-Marie sings a little song:
Jeanne-Marie
Patapon
Madelon
We are three.
But soon they are only two, for Madelon swims away down the river...
Jeanne-Marie and Patapon look for her—their search follows the repetitive pattern little children love. And in the end Madelon brings them a new friend!

Springtime for Jeanne-Marie
Reviewed by Sherry Early
The little French girl, Jeanne-Marie, loses her pet duck, Madalon. Jeanne-Marie also has a pet sheep, Patapon, and she and Patapon set off down the river to look for Madalon. The story has a simple plot with some repetition and a little surprise at the end.
