Paul Revere's midnight ride. Nathan Hale's famous last words. Washington's crossing of the Delaware. Children used to know these stories by heart. They are not as familiar today. The stories in this volume are generally arranged chronologically. l tried to include stories that will appeal to young children and to older children. The stories with the larger font alert you that they will work well for a young child. They will 'bump' into many of these names several times in the course of their studies. Weave these stories into the rest of them.
