Book Guide

Here is the newest and last of the delightful books about Elmer Elevator, a brave boy of nine, and his adventures with the flying baby dragon he rescued on Wild Island.

After the dragon left Elmer safe in Nevergreen City, he started off for his home in the mountains of Blueland. "It won't be long now!' he sang happily as he flew over Seaweed City, over the Spiky Mountain Range, and on toward Awful Desert, beyond which lay his home. But a panicky feeling came over him when he found that men had discovered the dragons' retreat—and that his family was in terrible danger, imprisoned in a cave!

How Elmer came once more to his friend's aid, the daring plan he devised to outwit the men who were hunting the dragons, and his exciting return home is all told in this story by the author of My Father's Dragon and Elmer and the Dragon. Accompanying the text are more enchanting black-and-white illustrations by Ruth Chrisman Gannett.
