A new adventure of the famous Happy Lion! In Africa most lions are quite content, but not this lion. Taken away from his house in the zoo, he escapes his captor, but then is lost and most unhappy. He fears he will never see his friend François again.
For days he wanders about, hungry, hot, and tired. He meets many animals who look like his friends back home in the zoo. But the zebras and giraffes run at the sight of him. And the elephants to whom he calls a greeting turn and charge without stopping to say hello. "Truly," says the Happy Lion, "this is not a country for a lion."
Imagine his delight, then, when he comes upon a camp and smells a spicy stew and sees MEN. At first the men do not share his delight. But who can resist the Happy Lion?
Everyone loved THE HAPPY LION. The New York Times chose it as "One of the Ten Best Illustrated Books of 1954:; the American Library Association listed it in "Distinguished Children's Books of 1954"; and the American Institute of Graphic Arts included it in their "Best Children's Books of 1953-54." Editions already are in preparation in France, England, and Germany.
Readers young and old will have just as much fun with THE HAPPY LION IN AFRICA.
