"The monks don't have a Christmas tree...It's up to us to see that they get one," proclaimed Pat Mouse, the Irish granddaddy of all the monastery mice.
You see, the monks—who also lived in the monastery—had been so busy helping the poor people that they had completely forgotten about getting themselves a tree. So late that Christmas Eve, Pat Mouse called a mouse meeting: "For Lord knows how many years we've been eatin' their crumbs and their candles, and now we're goin' to do somethin' for them!" he declared.
It didn't have to be a big tree as long as it was charmin'ly decorated. The mice worked all the night long to bring about their Christmas morning miracle. How they did it is a droll, sweet story that says "Merry Christmas" to young and old alike.
