Book Guide

On a spring day so lovely it is a delight just to be alive, Timothy Robbins (who in an earlier adventure Saw The Sea Come In) starts out to climb a mountain. And this time he takes a friend along.

It isn't a very high mountain, but the path twists and climbs as the two boys go hiking off over the gentle slopes, discovering new plants, collecting stones and stopping by a little stream to catch some fish for their lunch. Then back to the trail that leads higher an higher and higher until at last, when the sun is right overhead, they reach the top.

"nearer to the sun and closer to the clouds—up as high as birds fly, with air all around them."

This is one of the most beautiful of all the Tresselt-Duvoisin books.
