Tim and Ginger were at sea—as cabin boys on the S.S. Royal Fusilier with Captain Piper in command. But trouble began on the very first day of the voyage when they found a cold and hungry stowaway puppy in a lifeboat.
Now, Captain Piper loved cats, especially his own cat Tiger; but he simply hated dogs, and heaven knows what he would have done to one he found on board. So, Tim and Ginger decided to hide poor Towser until they could find a home for him in port. But as Towser grew, so did the problems of feeding and hiding him—and no one seemed to want to give him a home. All seemed hopeless until the crew and the captain's cat joined Tim and Ginger in the project to find Towser a home.
