Nothing can beat a roundup for excitement. Or for showing just how much of a cowboy you really are.
This roundup Whitey got himself into was the genuine kind, in the style of the old days, on the open range. At first he was kept close to the chuck wagon as pot-walloper for Mr. Waccapominy because of being only the youngest, smallest, least depended-upon cowhand in Uncle Torwal's outfit. Then he had to stand trial in Kangaroo Court for not knowing what he'd done wrong.
But next day, Whitey got into the thick of big doings. He went out on circle and worked broken country along with Birdlegs Smith. And, at the branding fire during a bad moment, Whitey did a neat bit of roping, much to his credit.
This is a story all back-yard cowboys will read with zest.
