Children's Books about First Ladies

< Other Lists

Although they don't run for office themselves, presidents' wives have often made their mark while their husbands have been occupied serving the country.  In this list we've collected books about the women who have lived in the White House and served the United States in their own way. While we’ve included several compilation books including sketches about each of the former First Ladies, we’ve also included books that focus specifically on several women who profoundly impacted this country through the role they played while occupying the White House.

You will note that books about First Ladies who are still alive are not included in this list. We’ve made that decision purposefully as we prefer to allow the dust to settle for a few years as history sorts out their legacy and we can appreciate a more objective view of their lives.
