David Small

1945 -

Sarah Stewart and David Small have combined their talents in creating two previous picture books: The Money Tree and The Library. . . . Mr. Small spends much of his time in his studio making pictures, many of which are for children's books he has written himself, such as Imogene's Antlers, Paper John, George Washington's Cows, and Fenwick's Suit. Ms. Stewart and Mr. Small are married and live in a historic house in Michigan.

David Small's books have been awarded a Caldecott Medal (So You Want to Be President? by Judith St. George) and two Caldecott Honors (The Gardener by Sarah Stewart and One Cool Friend by Tony Buzzeo).
