As is fitting for a book whose history is so uncertain, she leaves open the question of what drove the makers of the book to complete such a monumental work. Sarah and Me and The Lady From the Sea

In a style reminiscent of Hilda van Stockum or Alta Halverson Seymour, this story celebrates family life and friendship. The Abbotts do make friends on the Peninsula, and they do learn how to take care of themselves. More importantly, they learn important things about themselves and what they are truly capable of. This was a very enjoyable and quick read that would ideally suit our middle-grade readers. Girls of 8-14 might particularly enjoy this one. Read the full review

The School for Cats

The second Cat Club story was The School for Cats, which I found in a separate book. The school is a place where cats learn manners, but sometimes cats are sent there when their owners have to be away from home. The Captain sends Jenny to school because he has to go on a long sea voyage. This is where Jenny meets the Fire Cat, Pickles. Read the full review
